Ascii Design is an ASCII art program based on the FIGlet engine. You can create text-based art for many types of decorations for Web sites, email, text files, etc.

AUCTeX is a much-enhanced (La)TeX environment for Emacs and part of the GNU project.

Papyrus is a XML-based reporting langauge for PostgreSQL and MySQL. It allows you to generate well-formatted reports in LaTeX, PDF, PostScript, HTML, ANSI, and XML. The XML is expressed in a formatting-oriented style to allow you to develop a wide range of reports. SQL is then embedded into the report to give you the desired data. Papyrus is commandline-driven, and data arguments can be passed into the report. Equations and expressions can also be carried out on data.

Cream is a configuration of the famous Vim text editor that makes it easier to use, like an Apple- or Windows-style text editor. It uses Vim's own extensibility to improve menus, keyboard shortcuts, and editing behavior. Cream seamlessly maintains Vim's insertmode to access all the power of the original Vim plus many custom Cream extensions.

dbacl is a digramic Bayesian text classifier. Given some text, it calculates the posterior probabilities that the input resembles one of any number of previously learned document collections. It can be used to sort incoming email into arbitrary categories such as spam, work, and play, or simply to distinguish an English text from a French text. It fully supports international character sets, and uses sophisticated statistical models based on the Maximum Entropy Principle.

TRE is a lightweight, robust, efficient, portable, and POSIX compliant regexp matching library. Key features include the agrep command line tool for approximate regexp matching in the style of grep, an approximate matching library API, portability, wide character and multibyte character support, binary pattern and data support, complete thread safety, consistently efficient matching, low memory consumption and small footprint, and strict standards conformance.

DoubleType is an attempt to make a type designer (font editor) that builds TrueType font files. It is designed with collaborative creation in mind. Unlike other programs that work on a single binary file, DoubleType stores each glyph in a separate text file.

xlHtml converts an Excel spreadsheet file (.xls) into highly-optimized HTML. It includes scripts to allow it to be used as a Netscape or mutt plugin and as a xls handler for Apache. The program currently supports string, blank, boolean, error, integer, floating point, hyperlinks, and formula cells. It can also output in XML, tab delimited, or comma separated values (CSV).

TAMS (Text Analysis Markup System) Analyzer is a qualitative or ethnographic coding and data extraction-analysis system.
