rexima is a curses-based interactive mixer which can also be used from the command-line. It's intended to be a simple, general, usable mixer without all the chrome usually present in other mixers.

streamixer contains an audio stream mixer server,
tools for monitoring and feeding the server, and a
stream resampling tool with various different
interpolation models.

VolumeControl is an audio mixer for Linux. It
requires OSS or ALSA with OSS /dev/mixer
compatibility and provides a GTK+ interface for
adjusting volume levels.

Znap is a small network audio mixing daemon. It
can load streams supported by the fmod library
(Ogg MP3, WAV, etc.) and mix them together. It can
be controlled via TCP or XML-RPC. It supports
playlists and has an SQLite backend. Future
releases will provide scheduling capabilities,
making it able to act like radio automation software.

WaveMixer is a multitrack wave editor. It can mix
multiple sounds together from many formats, with
the option to add various different effects to the
result.

QRT is a track-based, real time sound mixing
application built on the QT GUI library. It is
script-based, but editing and processing
events can be edited either in text or
graphically. It supports any number of input
soundfiles and allows up to 16 to sound at
any given moment. It supports simple signal
processing such as transposition and gain
envelopes.

mmix is a small OSS audio mixer with a curses-like user interface. It compiles against dietlibc and supports different configurations for all mixer devices which have been found.

MUSOO is an online music environment kit for
playing, listening,
distribution, and collaboration. It's like
Web-based sound CMS.

JackMixDesk is based on JackMiniMix and is a general purpose mixer for the Jack Audio Connection Kit. It has an OSC-based control interface, and a configurable number of
mono/stereo inputs and pre/post sends/outputs that can be controlled by sending it OSC messages. There is LASH support and an XML config file.

JackMaster is a master-mixer for jackd that
(unlike jackeq) works like a real console, with a
simple fader -> subgroup -> master routing. Unlike
jackmix, it has faders instead of knobs. It
features low CPU usage, optional session
management with LASH, and optional fader
automation with the ALSA sequencer.

XVolume is a simple Xlib volume control that mimics the traditional OSD (on screen display) controls found in various appliances. It is intended to be launched by a shortcut key (eg. one of the "Internet" buttons on your keyboard) and one can then directly adjust the volume by user-defined keys. It was inspired by a similar feature in the Windows driver for a Logitech keyboard. Xvolume is highly configurable and can be tailored for a perfect fit with your window manager.

TTtrigger is a program intended for theater use.
It uses JACK to trigger sound effects and other
sounds to predefined audio ports. A shortcut key
can be assigned to each sound effect or you can
trigger the sounds sequentially.

Cross-platform audio mixing and output library, supporting OpenAL, DirectSound, and Open Sound System (OSS).

Cinnamon has a simple C interface for loading and playing sounds. It does not include any way to load audio files (you may want to check out libsndfile as an example of an audio loading library). Only fully buffered sounds are supported.
