PostGIS adds support for geographic objects to the PostgreSQL object-relational database. In effect, PostGIS "spatially enables" the PostgreSQL server, allowing it to be used as a backend spatial database for geographic information systems (GIS), much like ESRI's SDE or Oracle's Spatial extension.

EiffelStudio is an IDE for the Eiffel language (ECMA-367, ISO/IEC 25436, and ACM Software System Award 2006). It includes: Eiffel compiler, Eiffel editor, Eiffel code browsing tool, Eiffel testing tool, graphical design tool, refactoring tool, debugger, profiler, and Eiffel analysis tools (Metrics, Dependencies, etc.). Eiffel generates C or CLI for .NET or Mono. Eiffel applies O-O principles and Design by Contract for high-quality software. Many Eiffel libraries are included: ADT, network, GUI, database, parsing (including an Eiffel parser), XML, Web, COM, and more.

Admin is entirely written in Java. It uses Swing GUI Components and JDBC to connect to databases. It has been succesfully tested with MySQL, Derby, InstantDB, Oracle, Empress, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. You can have a tree view of the RDBMS or pick a single instance to have a look at its metadata. It allows you to create, modify, and drop tables and to create indices on a table. The dynamic form makes it easy to enter data into a certain table, and the guided query makes it easy to retrieve data from a table and to export it. Java developers will probably enjoy the code generator doing an OO relational wrapper and a swing GUI for them. There is a tool with which SQL statements can be enriched with a few commands, generating a GUI to easily select data from a DB. You can also export and import data and transport it from one DBMS to another.

deltasql is a tool to synchronize databases with source code, which helps to keep database evolution under control. While developing mid-sized or big applications, developers make changes to the data model that go along with changes to the source code. From time to time, branches of source code are done to stabilize the code that will go to production. A sort of data model branch is also needed. deltasql provides a simple way to collect all scripts that change the data model and means to handle data model branches. The deltasql server runs on Apache and is backed by MySQL.

DataCleaner is a data quality analysis tool that allows you to perform data profiling, validating, and minor ETL-like tasks. Cego implements a relational and transactional database system with support for the SQL query language. The current release contains the most common database features for basic table manipulation and data retrieval. Indexes, foreign keys, views, and stored procedures are also implemented. Future releases (2.0 and above) will support a multi-node database concept with log file shipping for an automatic database application failover.

hamsterdb Embedded Storage is an embedded database engine for C/C++, including wrappers for Java, .NET, and Erlang. It supports in-memory databases, very fast database cursors, "record number" databases, ACID transactions, and duplicate keys. hamsterdb is very fast and highly configurable. It compiles and runs on Unix platforms, Linux, Microsoft Windows, and embedded platforms.

Talend Open Profiler (TOP) helps you to profile your data. TOP's ergonomic interface allows you to define metrics (indicators) and collect statistics on your data in a few clicks. It comes with a set of regular expressions that helps you to identify bad data. You can create your own regular expressions and use them in data profiling analyses. A lot of options exist for each indicator, which change the behavior of the indicator so that it gives you more pertinent information. Data quality options on indicators alert you when your data quality is not what you expected.

Qore is a scripting language supporting threading and embedded logic, and designed for applying a flexible scripting-based approach to enterprise interface development. It is also useful as a general purpose language.

Firebird is a relational database offering many ANSI SQL-99 features that runs on Linux, Windows, and a variety of Unix platforms. It offers excellent concurrency, high performance, and powerful language support for stored procedures and triggers.

Tellico is a collection manager for KDE. It includes default collections for books, bibliographies, comic books, videos, music, video games, coins, stamps, trading cards, and wines, and also allows custom collections. Unlimited user-defined fields are allowed. Filters are available to limit the visible entries by definable criteria. Full customization for printing is possible through editing the default XSLT file. It can import CSV, Bibtex, Bibtexml, RIS, MODS, CDDB, and audio file metadata and exports CSV, HTML, Bibtex, Bibtexml, ONIX, and PilotDB. Entries may be imported directly from Amazon.com, imdb.com, any z39.50 bibliographic server, PubMed, or an external script.

Moodss is a modular monitoring application, which supports operating systems (Linux, UNIX, Windows, etc.), databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, DB2, ODBC, etc.), networking (SNMP, Apache, etc.), and any device or process for which a module can be developed (in Tcl, Python, Perl, Java, and C). An intuitive GUI with full drag'n'drop support allows the construction of dashboards with graphs, pie charts, etc., while the thresholds functionality includes emails and user defined scripts. Monitored data can be archived in a SQL database by both the GUI and the companion daemon, so that complete history over time can be made available from Web pages or common spreadsheet software. It can even be used for future behavior prediction or capacity planning, from the included predictor tool, based on powerful statistical methods and artificial neural networks.
