html2db.xsl converts an XHTML source document into a Docbook output document. It provides features for customizing the generation of the output, so that the output can be tuned by annotating the source, rather than hand-editing the output. This makes it useful in a processing pipeline where the source documents are maintained in HTML, although it can be used as a one-time conversion tool too.

Pixies is a formatter that convert XSL-FO
documents to PDF. It is written in Python and is
particularly focused on the production of PDF
files from DocBook documents.

Rundoc is an Ant task designed to help with the single-
sourcing of program documentation. This task replaces special
commands embedded within text files with their output in a
specified format. Currently, only Docbook format is supported.
It was written to keep sample code output in program
documentation synchronized with the actual output of the
current code, by running the referenced code when the
documentation is built.

DocBook XSL Configurator is an umbrella project currently consisting of three similar Java Swing applications used to create DocBook XSL customization layers, run external subprocesses that format DocBook XML, and view the results. Users click through tables, select parameters, edit those parameters, include the customization layer in a project, write out the customization layer as an XSL file, and apply the XSL to the project's XML using the project's specified XSLT processor. DocBook XSL Configurator then runs a project's FO processor, PDF/PostScript viewer, HTML viewer, or man page viewer as an external subprocess.
