PPM-Make is a Perl module that automates some of the steps needed to make a ppm (Perl Package Manager) package from a CPAN distribution. It attempts to fill in the ABSTRACT and AUTHOR attributes of Makefile.PL if these are not supplied, and also generates HTML documentation. ppm is used in the ActivePerl distribution. ActivePerl is primarily used on Windows and by corporations on other OSes.

mkpkg is a small toolkit for automatically building Slackware or OpenLab packages. It should work on most packages that contain a makefile. It follows Slackware standards and is intended to build packages acceptable for linuxpackages.net. After you type the description, it generates a correctly formatted slack-desc file and logs configure options.

The Loki Update Tool was written by Loki Software to be used in conjunction with their Setup and Patch tools to automatically update installed products from online sources.

Tree Utilities are shell scripts for managing software packages installed from source distributions and binary tarballs.

Debreate is a utility to aid in building Debian packages. The goal is to make developing for Debian-based Linux distributions more appealing with an easy-to-use interface for packaging applications, themes, artwork, media, etc.

KebuildPart is a KPart plugin that allows you to
view ebuild scripts.

stableUpdate is an autoupdate tool for creating,
detecting, downloading, installing, and removing
service packs for JAR-based Java applications.
Generated updates are transferred in archives,
upgrading between subsequent versions. An update
contains changed single files and changed parts of
JAR and ZIP files. It supports mirrors, release
notes, and uninstallation of updates.

dh_make_text is a program for quickly converting archives containing only text
(simple text, HTML or any other format) into Debian packages. In most cases it
produces ready-to-build packages using debhelper without having to hand-edit
any Debian control files.

IPFS (IPSquad Package From Source) is a system which allows you to trace an program's installation from sources and register it in your favorite packaging system (only the Slackware package system and RPM are currently supported). IPFS watches a command (generally make install), collects the list of added files, and then registers them in the chosen packaging system as if the install was made from a normal package. Unlike other similar products, IPFS is able to track both shared and statically linked programs.

The Heirloom Packaging Tools are Linux ports of
the SVR4 application packaging tools, as released
by Sun as part of OpenSolaris. Currently, there
exists no Linux distribution which bases its
package management on these tools. Nevertheless,
they are useful for evaluation purposes.

RPMbuilder is a program to help users create RPMs from a source .tar.gz package. It helps build a generic RPM spec file. Although this program will bail out on nonstandard build methods, it should be good enough for most apps.

Maintainer is a collection of scripts that make
backup tasks easy and simple. Combined with
crontab, Maintainer can be used for automatic
backups.

gpkg is the command-line GNUpdate package
management tool. It provides functionality similar
to the rpm, dpkg, and apt-get tools. Since it works
with libpackman, it has the ability to install,
uninstall, and query multiple types of package
formats and package databases.

Glitter is a text-mode interface to the RPM package management tool. It allows you to browse packages installed on your system, and verify, query and uninstall those packages. It also allows you to update packages with new versions and install new packages.
