regexplace searches and replaces text in files in
a directory, recursively. The file names and
search strings can be regular expressions.
Execution can be simulated, step by step, and
changed files or lines are always shown.

hc-cron is a cron daemon for 'home computers'. It
runs specified jobs at periodic intervals and will
remember the time when it was shut down and
catch up jobs that have occurred during down time
when it is started again. Hc-cron is based on the
widely used vixie-cron and uses the same crontab
format so that it can be used as a drop-in
replacement for that program.

Hawk is a DNS housekeeping utility that compares what's in DNS to what's really on your network, allowing you to (re)assign IPs with confidence.

It monitors the hosts on your network via ping. It can identify unauthorized address usage, or show you which addresses in DNS haven't been used in a while and can be reclaimed.

Diskus is a high-level hard drive diagnostic and
limited repair tool. It checks the disk geometry
by writing numbered IDs into the sectors of the
hard drive. Later one can verify that these
sector-IDs on the disk are still correct, thereby
detecting data which was not correctly written.
There is an option to "freshen" the data on your
harddrive, which will read and rewrite the
sectors. With modern drives this will re-map
defective sectors.

ClusTerm is used to SSH into a cluster of systems
and execute the same command on all the systems.
It combines a number of Gnome Terminal Widgets
(VTE) in a single graphical window and copies the
input to one terminal to all other terminals. It
shows the differences between different terminals.
Different layouts: table, row, column, and
notebook. It is a GNOME application based on libvte.

RadSpool is a daemon which sits between NAS and
RADACCT server and provides an automated spooling
service of accounting information should the
server fail to respond. It helps reduce the impact
of temporary failure of a single accounting
server.

passlogd is a purpose-built sniffer for capturing syslog messages in transit. This allows for backup logging to be performed on a machine with no open ports.

DUST (Driver UpdateS Tool) is designed to "just work" for building kernel driver modules. The concept is similar to DKMS, though this has the benefit of being simpler, easier to test and use, and easier to integrate. DUST enables you to package up a driver pack, install it into the dust directory, and prepare for upgrading. Each driver pack has 3 components: an install file (populates a tree with stuff needed to build a working driver); the driver payload (tarball, zip file, etc.); and the update script, which will do nothing but copy the old driver kernel modules to a backup directory, build/install a new copy of the driver kernel, run depmod if needed, and mkinitramfs, mkinitrd, or dracut if needed. The install file is very trivial. It is easy to recode this as an RPM or deb. As long as it moves the driver payload and update script to the right location, you can use any mechanism to do this.

Barrendero is a program designed to keep free space in the mail spool directory by deleting messages older than a certain age from the mail files. It can warn users of the pending deletion ahead of time, as well as provide a report of the deleted messages.

WebReport is a Web log statistics reporting program especially designed for virtual Web hosting sites. Reports can be emailed and/or placed under the Web site. It generates admin reports for all Web sites and can calculate hosting price. It makes reports on downloads, Web hits, main page hits, total bytes, and more.

Debian package information is generally stored in files having a special file format, dubbed the Debian control file format (dctrl), a special case of the record jar file format. These tools operate on any files conforming in a general sense to that format, and are therefore widely applicable whenever this format is in play. The tools in this bundle are grep-dctrl, sort-dctrl, join-dctrl, and tbl-dctrl.

elf is a command-line tool that allows a user (be it a script or
a human) to analyze the contents of an ELF object file
header. This header contains various integral values such
as the virtual entry point of the object file, the machine
architecture it was compiled for and more.

queue-admin is a bash2 shell script for managing
the mail queue of the qmail MTA. It can provide a
summarized list of the messages in the queue,
optionally filtered by number or by whether a
message is local or remote. The messages
themselves can be listed, viewed, or deleted by
the same criteria. It can also search for
expressions within the messages, and can return
the entire email or only the line where the
expression was found. The output is colorized.

Pam_p11 is a pluggable authentication module (PAM)
package for using cryptographic tokens such as
smart cards and USB crypto tokens for
authentication. Pam_p11 is very simple, as it has
no config file, no options other than the PKCS#11
module file, and does not know about certificate
chains, certificate authorities, revocation lists,
or OCSP. There is one module that uses the
$HOME/.eid/authorized_certificates file (like the
old pam_opensc did) and one module that uses the
$HOME/.ssh/authorized_keys file (like ssh does).
