POE::Component::IRC::Service is a POE (Perl Object
Environment) component which provides a convenient way
for POE applications to create an IRC Service and for writing
IRC Services. Currently supported is P10 for ircu.

beware irc services is a set of P10 protocol IRC services that is simple and scalable, for Delphi and FreePascal. It can run on Windows, Linux, and FreeBSD. It is easy to code new service bot "modules" for it.

Ofnibot seeks to reimplement a subset of the
functionality provided by the popular Infobot IRC
information bot. It learns from chat conversations
and answers questions from users based on its
knowledge. Ofnibot is written in Perl and uses the
POE IRC modules for IRC communication. Its
database files are compatible with Infobot
database files and Ofnibot supports a large subset
of Infobot commands. On the other hand, Ofnibot
was programmed from the ground up to be small and
compact. Consequently, it does not include most of
the "extras" provided by other IRC information bots.

This is an Eggdrop mod that I wrote out of boredom; basically it is MegaHAL that has been altered to use the Eggdrop's I/O routines. It is in development, and although it has been running on my bot for over 10 days now with no problems, it is not guaranteed.

Potbot is a simple IRC bot, designed to allow
someone with only little Perl knowledge to add
modules and produce a custom bot to serve their
needs to the greatest extent possible. Although
the bot is written to allow easy additions of
modules, it's already fully working in its current
state and can be used as such without any
modification.

IrssiBot is an IRC bot written in pure Java. It has support for being on multiple IRC networks at once, as well as almost unlimited extendability via a very flexible module API. Compiled Java classes implementing this can be loaded and unloaded at run-time. Due to its multithread model, the memory/CPU strain is very low, and it was written with the end user in mind, and is therefore very easy to install and configure. Configuration and the user files are in XML.
