BAR is backup archiver program to create compressed and encrypted archives of files that can be stored on a hard disk, CD, DVD, BD, or directly on a server via FTP, SCP, or SFTP. A server mode and a scheduler are integrated for making automated backups in the background. A graphical front end that can connect to the (remote) server is included.

X-CD-Roast is a program-package dedicated to easy CD creation under most
Unix-platforms. It combines command line tools like "cdrecord", "cdda2wav", and
"mkisofs" into a nice graphical user interface.

MySQL Backup is a Perl script that uses mysqlshow
to grab the database names and "show tables" to
grab the table names for a user's account, and
then uses mysqldump to save the data in a
subdirectory named in the script. It then tars and
gzips the files, using the date and time for the
file name. It can be run from cron on a daily
basis. It removes old files and has an option to
email the gzip file to an admin, and/or FTP the
file to a remote server. It also has options to
use "select data into outfile" or a regular
"select" for users who can't use mysqldump. It
supports LARGE sets of databases and tables.

AutoArchive is a utility to help create backups more easily. The idea of the program is that all essential information for creating a backup is in a single file. It can use ‘tar’ for creating archives, has a command line interface, and supports incremental backups.

Attic is a deduplicating backup program. The main goal of attic is to provide an efficient and secure way to back up data. The data deduplication technique used makes Attic suitable for daily backups since only actual changes are stored. Main features: space efficient storage, optional data encryption, and off-site backups.

CDBackup is a utility to make backups to CD-R(W) media easier. It is designed to work with any backup and restore software that can read from stdin, write to stdout and can handle linear devices such as tape drives. Cpio, afio, and tar should all work fine.

mysqlblasy is a Perl script for automating MySQL
database backups. It uses "mysqldump" for dumping
mysql databases to the files sytem. It was written
with automated usage in mind. For example, it is
silent during operation, and only produces noise
on errors/problems. It rotates backups
automatically to prevent the backup disk from
getting full when the administrator is on vacation
(or is lazy).

PHP Backup Maker (PDM) is a smart PHP backup solution.
The script reads a given source directory (with
its subdirectories) and then creates a set of
directories filled with the content of the source
directory, arranged in groups to fit a given
capacity. It can be used to create CD sets for
backups. It also supports ISO image creation,
direct CD and DVD burning via cdrecord/growisofs,
backup of files bigger than media capacity
(splitting), automatic file index creation, and
more.

tomsrtbt is the most Linux on one floppy disk for rescue recovery panic and emergencies, contains tools to keep in your shirt pockets, is useful whenever you can't use a hard drive and contains about 100 rescue tools.

Simplebackup is a cross-platform backup program. It reads a configuration file, then it builds a compressed file for each of your backup directories or files on your backup list, and places the compressed files into another location. For example, this location can be a network mapped drive in Windows, an NFS mounted drive in Unix, another hard disk, an FTP server, an SFTP (Secure FTP) server, an HTTP (WebDAV) server, one or more email accounts, or a tape device (Unix only). This will duplicate your information, doing the so called "backup".

UrBackup is an efficient client/server backup system for Linux and Windows. A client for Windows lets you backup open files and complete partition images. Incremental and full image backups are stored to disk in a efficient way with file level de-duplication on either Windows or Linux servers. An easy-to-use server Web interface lets you analyze storage usage, view logs, modify settings, and browse backups. Backup images can be restored using a prebuilt live Linux CD based on KNOPPIX.
