wcp archives and restores files on a local or ssh-
reachable disk. Each backup archives contains all
files, even unmodified files, which are "mirrored"
from the previous archive by using hardlinks.

ra-suite (Reliable Archive Suite) is a set of
programs for preparing robust archives of data to
be stored on unreliable media (e.g. CD-Rs). It
uses parity data like a RAID and checksums to
verify data integrity and reconstruct data in
corrupted files.

backupIT is a script to backup local and remote filesystems onto a remote tape
drive. It includes a collection of functions to send mail, to use system
commands to drive a tape library, and to use NetBackup(tm) to drive a tape
library. backupIT uses rsh/ssh to connect to remote hosts, and it supports ufs,
vxfs, and ext2 file systems. It works on Solaris, Slackware Linux, and Red Hat
Linux systems. backupIT requires the dump utility, which might not be installed
on Linux systems.

MailArchiva is a full featured email archiving
server for Linux/Windows that integrates with mail servers, such Microsoft Exchange. MailArchiva stores all incoming, outgoing, and internal email messages for long-term storage. It includes a Web-based interface for email search and retrieval.

Crackup is a pretty simple, pretty secure remote
backup solution for folks who want to keep their
data securely backed up but aren’t particularly
concerned about bandwidth usage. Backups are
compressed and (optionally) encrypted via GPG and
can be transferred to the remote location over a
variety of protocols, including FTP. Additional
storage drivers can easily be written in Ruby.

Smart Publisher is a Web-based application which helps you to publish a static or dynamic Web site on the Internet. It compares files and databases (MySQL) between local and remote systems, and uploads only the difference between the two systems.

Snazzy Backup is a backup utility for desktop
users. You can pick files and folders to zip. It
has a nice GUI. You can save and load settings,
specify the compression ratio, thread priority,
filters, and tokenizable file names, and span
multiple files based on file size.

The dsnapshot script provides a high-level
interface to the Linux Logical Volume Manager. It
uses its block-level snapshot support to create
directory snapshots. In contrast to block-level
snapshots, directory snapshots resemble the file
system layer. Thus, you can snapshot any directory
that is on a logical volume without worrying about
the actual logical volumes, mount points, and paths.

GSFV is a graphical interface written in GTK+ for
manipulating .sfv (Simple File Verification) files.

rstash is a server and client for transferring
files over a network into file drop boxes on the
server. It is primarily aimed at transferring
things such as backup files from one host to
another without opening up complete shell
accounts, NFS, FTP, or other full file transfer
mechanisms. The server has a set of boxes into
which the client can put named files in a
write-only fashion. No access to any portions of
the server's file system outside the configured
drop boxes is permitted.

VMBackup is a utility that performs a backup of a
VMWare Server or Workstation virtual machine to a
tar file, optionally compressed with either gzip
or bzip2, which can be stored either locally or on
another system using ssh.

SCST is a mid-level SCSI target subsystem for
Linux. This subsystem allows a remote host to
access local storage devices through the SCSI
protocol. SCST supports multiple network storage
protocols, including iSCSI, SRP, and FCoE, and also supports Qlogic 22xx/23xx SCSI HBAs. Strong points of SCST are its stability, maturity, high
