HPE provides a configurable way of building news boxes collected from many sources into your site. It is developed in PHP and uses MySQL to store information. News items are collected from many sources around the Web in formats ranging from XML/RSS to raw HTML. Users can select news sources, arrange them on a number of pages, and even browse themes.org themes.

The configuration file has changed, so you'll need to reconfigure your site. All configuration is now done using Web interface. Almost all formatting of the output was removed from the source and stored in templates, so you can change it more easily. The same source base can support multiple sites.
