Basically, you don't have to run with LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 to input
characters with Tomoe. Default encoding of the I/O character between
tomoe and uim is UTF-8, so it will uses UTF-8 whenever you use any
locale.

Which bridge of uim do you use? XIM? uim-el?
