as you know there is a large network icon on the
desktop. it would be nice if it was usable. currently
it is not as you can see by the error message. the
problem has existed on last 3 releases---55 54,53, at
least.
no linneighborhood, no LinNeighborhood. no network
browsing.
i am not prepared to install berry to fix it...i prefer
to install debian systems, but berry is a nice live
disk to carry around and show to friends.
Berry 0.67 LiveCD has NO dhcpcd used by Wireless Assistant
(see set PATH). Ndiswrapper will work only with dhcpcd and
not dhclient.
WORKAROUND: Copy dhcpcd program (say from Vector Linux /sbin
directory) to /tmp and connect internet by /tmp/dhcpcd wlan0
Kernel may not match but it works!!
Further to my comments earlier about failure to connect
wlan0 by dhclient - I found a better debugged solution:
download from www.phystech.com dhcpcd-1.3.22-pl4.tar.gz
tar zxvf the-file.tar.gz to /tmp directory
then connect wlan0 by /tmp/dhcpcd wlan0
Now Firefox will see cnn.com
