tnefclean is a Perl script that allows users of any email client to receive email and attachments from MS Outlook and Exchange users without having to decode winmail.dat (tnef) files. Email is disassembled and reassembled on the fly to make it conform more closely to accepted standards.

Support for Yerase's TNEF Stream Reader was added, allowing (among other things) Outlook/Exchange task notices and meeting invitations to be converted on the fly to standard formats, making it possible for them to be handled correctly by standards-compliant email clients. Also, tnefclean's error handling was improved. When an error is encountered during processing, the original message is now delivered unchanged. Finally, some improvements were made to the installer script.

TNEF detection was improved to include attachments with no file names. Also, a previous bugfix meant that appending compliant "last part" border strings was buggy. That's hopefully been fixed. Also, the previous release contained a bug in the new performance enhancing code.
