backmeup is an easy-to-use curses backup script.
It uses the simple concept of "backup
destinations" (where files are backed up to) and
"backup sources" (where files for backing up
reside) which may be accessed either locally or
remotely using URLs of the supported file-transfer
protocols (eg. SSH, Samba, FTP). Once backup jobs
have been configured using the interface, backmeup
can be instructed to run in the background as a
daemon, sending email reports on backup status as required.
