Not proposing this (not sure about my own opinion yet), but just opening discussion.
We have a number of generate_*.sh scripts run during freeciv build. Should we implement those in python instead, to get rid of 'sh' dependency on meson based builds? Of course, that would bring python dependency for autotools builds instead -> not to be done for freeciv-3.2. But would that python dependency be acceptable in freeciv-3.3 where autotools should already be largely phased out?
